| NFL owners approve rule changes for kickoff, ejection reviews The rules will go into effect this season. The committee will review the impact of the changes in the offseason, and then decide whether to modify or further tweak the rules for 2019.The rule changes are as follows:• The kickoff team must line up with five players on each side of the ball (five players, the kicker in the middle, and five more players.
